Y'know, if you'd told me this time last year that I would be writing this page, I would never have believed you. Why? Because I just didn't do art... it wasn't me.

If only I'd seen then what I've seen now!

If you've come to this page expecting some kind of critique of the artists of decades/centuries ago you're gonna be disappointed.

That's not what this page is about.

This page is, I guess, my way of saying... I dunno.. I guess it's my way of showing you that art doesn't *have* to be all galleries and people pondering over the artists of yesteryear which, if I'm honest, is what my immediate thought used to be whenever someone mentioned artwork to me. Don't get me wrong, there's absolutely nothing wrong with art galleries and pondering the artists of yesteryear... it's just not my "thing" y'know?

Anyway, I'm sliding off at a tangent here. This page is gonna be my way of showing you that art is what you make of it. You don't have to like everything you see - in fact, you probably *won't* like everything you see... but give it a try eh? What have you got to lose?

So, if this page isn't about artists like Van Gough and Picasso and stuff, what *is* it about?

Well, it's about modern-day artists... the artists that are alive and well today and trying to earn a living from their talent.

When I first put this page together as Mandy, I had permission from the artists *as Mandy* to display their art on my now defunct personal site. I keep forgetting to email them to ask for their permission to use their gorgeous artwork on this site so I ain't gonna display any until I have their permission.

Assuming I remember to email them and ask for their permission again, this'll be where their art will be displayed on my site and I'll link back to each artists site too so that you can see their other gorgeous pieces.

At the time I emailed Mr Seegmiller, I was only looking for artwork of people to use in websets that I made as gifts for people, so when I stumbled across Tom Sierak's site, it was a very pleasant surprise and opened up yet another world to me!!

Mr Sierak's work is very different to Mr Seegmillers and it appealed to a different part of me. They both paint people, but they have very different styles. I dunno how to describe it... go and take a look at their sites and you'll see what I mean! :-)

Anyone who knows me, knows that it takes a lot for me to recommend something so for me to talk about Ms. Holt, Mr Seegmiller and Mr Sierak like this, it's gotta say *something* about both their art and about the person, right? :-)

If people aren't your "thing" though, don't worry. There's *loads* of other stuff out there as I have been finding out!!

Maybe you prefer wildlife or animals in general? If this is more "you", take a walk on over to David Stribbling's site and be prepared to be stunned!! Honestly, the first time I saw some of his work I could have sworn they were photo's and even now I'm still amazed at just how incredibly lifelike they are!!

Another artist with absolutely incredible work is Kayomi - she has a lot of incredibly cute cats and kittens on her site and a few of the bigger cats in there too. Go and take a look and be prepared to go "awwww!"

There are all *kinds* of things available out there for every possible different taste... just type the sort of art you are looking for into a search engine (for example "fantasy art") and you will find hundreds of pages out there - you're bound to find *something* you like, and when you do, just follow the links on that site to any other sites that sound interesting - there's a whole new world of art out there just waiting to be discovered!!
